You’re in St. Pete, which means the bay is basically your pantry, and the options can feel dizzying.

Do you want grouper cheeks at a vintage raw bar or a smash burger next to a seafood boil that’s 100% halal? That’s the beauty of this town.

We ate our way from the pier at Teak to the tiki torches at Snapper’s, and we didn’t even need a napkin. The crab cakes alone are worth the trip.

So grab a fork and start here.

Mahi nuggets worth the trip
Fun beachy island atmosphere
Creative DiRTé sauce pairing
Great beer and liquor lineup
Live music ready venue

You want mahi nuggets? You go to Mullet's. And you order a pile of them, maybe two piles. They're the reason this place has a line out the door on a Tuesday. The DiRTé sauce is the kind of clever pairing you didn't see coming. It's tangy, a little spicy, and it makes you rethink your relationship with tartar sauce. The whole spot has that beachy, island vibe where you can show up in flip-flops and stay for three hours. Live music is usually warming up in the corner. The beer and liquor list is serious, so bring a friend who can drive. Just go. Eat the nuggets. Thank me later.

Fresh catch and chef's specials
Chorizo creamed corn to remember
Quick, attentive service with charm

Trophy Fish is the kind of place you stumble into and then never stop talking about. Kocho runs the bar, and honestly, she might be the best part. Her cocktails are sharp, her service is faster than you can order another round, and she remembers your name. The fresh catch and chef's specials change often, but the chorizo creamed corn is a constant. That stuff is dangerous. The vibe is laid back without being sleepy. You'll get your food quick, but you won't feel rushed. It's the kind of casual consistency that keeps locals coming back. Try the special, trust the staff, and order the corn. You'll thank yourself later.

Best meal in Florida
Packed with bold flavor
Great waterfront patio views
Strong drinks, friendly service
Worth the high prices

Shrimpys Waterfront is the meal you'll still be talking about when you get home. I don't say that lightly. The flavors hit you like a wave, bold and unapologetic. The waterfront patio gives you a front-row seat to the bay, and the drinks are strong enough to loosen up even the grumpiest travel buddy. Is it pricey? Yeah, but you're paying for the whole package: the view, the service, the taste. My shrimp basket was perfect, and my friend's fish tacos were gone in five minutes. If you're looking for the best meal in Florida, start here. Just be ready to spend a little extra for the memory.

Attentive, knowledgeable waitstaff
Wide variety of seafood options
Red snapper almost finished
Worth the drive, full lot

Crab Shack Restaurant is worth the drive, and clearly everyone knows it. The lot was full when I pulled in, and the blue crab sampler alone made the trip worthwhile. The waitstaff knows their stuff. Our server explained every option like they were a crab sommelier, which I didn't know was a thing. The red snapper was so good it was almost finished before my fork hit the table. Get there early, bring an appetite, and don't skip the variety. This place has everything from peel-and-eat shrimp to full platters. It's a no-frills spot with serious seafood chops. You'll leave full and already planning your next visit.

Tuna entree is unforgettable
Friendly, attentive service
Fair prices for quality
Tiki torches set mood
Delicious snapper and swordfish

Snapper's Sea Grill has a magic combo: tiki torches flickering by the water and a tuna entree that I still think about. The tuna was cooked perfectly, seared on the outside, tender in the middle, and seasoned like someone actually cared. The snapper and swordfish were also delicious, so bring friends who like to share. Service was friendly and attentive without hovering. The prices felt fair for the quality, which is rare these days. You can sit outside, watch the boats, and pretend you're on vacation. The mood is relaxed but refined enough for a nice dinner. If you only hit one spot on this list, make it this one.

Giant portions, fresh seafood
Outstanding seafood boil quality
Delicious smash burgers
House-made honey glazed wings
100% halal, well-treated meat

Wow Seafood and Grill does not mess around. The portions are giant, so come hungry or plan to share. The seafood boil is outstanding. Every bite of crab and shrimp was fresh, and the seasoning had a kick that lingered in the best way. But here's the twist: their smash burgers are legit. I'm not sure why a seafood spot has some of the best burgers in town, but I'm not complaining. The house-made honey glazed wings? Also a win. Everything is 100% halal, and you can taste the care in how the meat is handled. It's a casual spot that delivers big flavor. Go with a group, order a bunch, and you'll leave impressed.

Worth it despite spotty service
Casual vibe, memorable meal

Crabby Bill's on St. Pete Beach is all about the view. You head up to the rooftop and the ocean unfolds in front of you. It's the kind of scenery that makes you forget your phone. The food holds up its end. The peel shrimp were firm and sweet, and the mahi mahi was flaky with a nice char. Service can be spotty, but honestly, the view makes up for it. The vibe is casual, flip-flops welcome, and the sunset from up there is pure gold. You'll leave with a full belly and a phone full of photos of the water. Don't overthink it. Just go, eat, and stare at the sea.

Friendly service, worth a return trip

Salt Shack On The Bay is my go-to for a lazy lunch by the water. You sit on the bayfront, watch boats come and go, and occasionally a pelican will photobomb your meal. The coconut shrimp are crispy and sweet, and the shrimp basket is solid comfort food. The live music adds a nice hum without overwhelming the conversation. Service is friendly, and the vibe is relaxed. It's not a white-tablecloth affair, but it doesn't need to be. This is the kind of place where you can spend an afternoon, order a cold drink, and watch nature do its thing. It's a return trip waiting to happen.

Sour orange pie spectacular
Crab fries and lobster roll

The Helm Seafood Parlour is where you go when you want to feel fancy without the fuss. Anna Kate, our server, was impeccable. She knew the menu inside and out and made solid recommendations. The beef tartare is exceptional. I know it's a seafood place, but trust me, order it. The crab fries and lobster roll? They're both legit. The chefs clearly know what they're doing. Then came the sour orange pie. I'm still thinking about that pie. It's tart, sweet, and weirdly perfect. This place earned its spot on the list. Go for the seafood, stay for the dessert, and ask for Anna Kate.

Best crab cakes ever
Unbeatable pier view
Friendly, attentive service
Perfectly crispy calamari
Great Cuban sandwich

Teak has the best crab cakes I've ever had, and I'm not being dramatic. They're all lump meat, barely any filler, and cooked so they're crispy on the outside but tender inside. The calamari is perfectly crispy too, not rubbery at all. And the view? You're right on the pier, so you get boats and water while you eat. The Cuban sandwich is also a surprise hit, so bring a friend who wants something land-based. Service is friendly and attentive without being pushy. It's the kind of place where you can sit, relax, and watch the sun dip. If you love crab cakes, this is your spot. Period.

Great casual dinner spot
Excellent espresso martini
Juicy, perfectly cooked burger
Friendly, attentive bartenders
Small menu, big variety

Paul's Landing is a casual dinner spot that does a lot right. The espresso martini was excellent, smooth with a proper caffeine kick. The burger? Juicy, cooked perfectly, and way better than a bar burger has any right to be. The menu is small, but it's got variety: seafood, sandwiches, some salads. The bartenders were friendly and attentive, checking in without hovering. It's not a fancy place, but it doesn't try to be. You come here for a relaxed meal, maybe a game on the TV, and a drink that hits the spot. It's the kind of local joint that makes you feel like a regular even the first time.

Grouper cheeks packed with flavor
Fresh, buttery lobster roll
Awesome oysters and happy hour
Friendly service, vintage vibes
Don't miss the seafood boil

Cheeky's Fish & Raw Bar is a vintage treasure. The grouper cheeks are packed with flavor, like little nuggets of the sea. The lobster roll was fresh and buttery, barely needing any mayo. Oysters? Excellent. They have a happy hour that makes you question why you eat anywhere else. The seafood boil is a must-order, loaded with shrimp, crab, and sausage in a spicy broth. Service was friendly and the whole place had a retro charm that made me want to stay longer. It's the kind of spot where you can be messy, laugh loud, and eat well. Don't pass up the cheeks. Seriously.
