I’m a grumpy guy with high donut standards, and Englewood keeps wrecking my bad mood. That takes serious skill.

Between Abbe’s Donut Shop, where the apple fritter is big enough to use as a pillow, and that fancy croissant-donut hybrid at Parlor that shatters into buttery chaos, this town’s got range. Detwiler’s Farm Market even sidetracked me for an hour with a perfect ribeye.

The place never sleeps. Start your sugar coma here, before I eat everything myself.

Gluten-free goodies, zero compromise
Artisan loaf with dense softness
Focaccia with divine texture
Holiday boxes, perfectly timed
Baked with serious love

Divine Dough got me with the gluten-free stuff. I was ready to grumble. But their artisan loaf has this dense softness that shut me up. The focaccia? Divine texture, no joke. Holiday boxes arrive perfectly timed, which is rare around here. Everything tastes like it was baked with serious love. Zero compromise, just good bread. I still miss a classic glazed ring, but this place earns its name. I left with a full bag and a half-smile. That's a win in my book.

Open only until they sell out

Yummies Donuts is worth the drive. I grumble about drives. I made this one twice in a week. The homemade donuts are fresh and honest. Then there's the Sticky Pig. Legendary. It's messy, sweet, and absurd. I loved every bite. Seasonal paczki show up and vanish fast. The owners are incredibly generous people. They treat you like a regular even on your first visit. They open early and sell out. That's the game. Get there before I do, or you'll miss out. Simple as that.

Parlor Doughnuts is sinfully fresh. The variety is wide. I stood there staring like a fool. Then I saw the croissant-donut hybrid. Genius. It shatters when you bite it. Butter everywhere. You need a knife for some of these. Worth it. The staff is warm and the vibes are cute. I felt almost happy. Almost. The sweets are dessert-date worthy. I took a box home and hid it. That's how good they are. My grumpiness melted a little. Just a little. Go try one. You'll thank me later.

My new favorite spot

Detwiler's Farm Market isn't a donut shop. I know. But I walked in and forgot about donuts for an hour. The fresh fruit is excellent. Massive selection. The meats have great prices. I grabbed a ribeye that cooked like a dream. The seafood is worth the drive. I'm picky about shrimp. These were perfect. This is my new favorite spot in Englewood. Donuts are still my mission. But this place got me side-tracked. I'll be back. Every week. Maybe twice. Don't judge me.

Friendly local favorite

Flo's Bakery & Gifts took some searching. I got lost twice. I'm blaming the GPS. But I found it. The Key lime pie is the best I've had. Tart, creamy, and just sweet enough. They also do authentic Cuban sandwiches. The bread is right. The pork is juicy. I ate one and needed a nap. The staff is friendly. It feels like a local favorite. Because it is. I'll search for this place again. Next time, I'll bring a map. And an appetite.

T n D Bakery is family-run. You can tell. The service is incredibly friendly. They remember your name. That's rare. Their cupcakes are massive. They hide fillings inside. I bit into one and found a surprise. Good surprise. Their gluten-free treats actually taste great. I've had bad ones. These aren't those. The chocolate Bundt cake is outstanding. Moist, rich, and gone too fast. Worth the drive. Every time. I grumble about the drive less now. That's saying something.

Quiche misses, tarts deliver

Sassy Tarts Bakery made me return daily. I grumbled about it. Then I went back again. The almond croissant is to die for. Crunchy outside, soft inside. Perfect. Easter specialties hit the mark. I grabbed a few. No regrets. The quiche misses though. I'll be honest. The tarts deliver. Every single one. The fruit tarts are bright and fresh. The custard is smooth. I'll keep going back for the croissant. And the tarts. And maybe another quiche try. I'm a glutton for punishment.

Corner Crust has a Boston creme that's heavenly. I could stop there. But I won't. The jumbo sizes are huge. The prices are cheap. That combination is dangerous. The owner radiates welcoming warmth. He actually seemed happy I was there. Strange. They also do take-and-bake Italian comfort food. I grabbed a tray for later. The bakery case is full of sweets. I took too many. No shame. This place is a winner. My waistline disagrees. I'll listen to my stomach instead.

The staff is friendly and efficient. No awkward waiting. The outdoor seating is warm and inviting. I sat there longer than planned. The atmosphere is inclusive. Everyone seems welcome. That matters. I watched families, couples, and solo folks all happy. I'll be back for another cappuccino. And a pastry. Maybe two.

The staff is someone you'll love. They joke around. They remember your order. Never a bad visit. I've been three times this week. My doctor wouldn't approve. The donuts are classic and honest. No fancy nonsense. Just good dough. I'll keep coming back. So will you. Trust me.

Abbe's Donut Nook is serious business. Here's some top-tier doughnut craftsmanship. The yeast donuts are airy. The cake donuts have a crisp edge. That chocolate frosting is dreamy. I mean it. Their apple fritters are giant. I ate one over three days. It stayed good. That's a miracle. The oil tastes fresh and clean. No weird aftertaste. This place knows what it's doing. I walked in grumpy and walked out planning my next trip. Don't sleep on this nook. It's the real deal.

The Hideaway surprised me. I expected pub food. I got creative dinners instead. The beef tips were perfectly cooked. Tender, juicy, no complaints. The ribs had a bourbon glaze that balanced sweet and savory. I finished those fast. The tuna ramen portions are generous. I shared. Barely. They explain gluten-free choices clearly. That's rare. I didn't feel like a bother asking questions. The staff handled it all with patience. This might be my new dinner spot. Donuts are still my first love, but this place has my attention.
